Look out Godzilla, Gidra is in the house.

Fit styled by Johnny Blanco

One of my favorite fits is inspired by the collab between Jeff Staple and Puma.

“This is my put the top down kind of day outfit. Sunny day streetwear vibe. Think of it as a heading out for a weekend of F1 racing in Miami”.

- Johnny Blanco

Jeff Staple is the man behind Staple Pigeon. Jeff has created “Gidra", to fight the inequalities faced by Asian American minorities. The collection from the duo Puma/Staple continues the legacy of the pivotal social movements of Asian Americans.

“Young creatives have to really understand the concept of time. I’ve been doing design for 18 years. My retail store has been open for 11 years. Success, in whatever form, takes time. A lot of young people that I talk to, maybe because they grew up on the Internet, are stuck with the idea that if you post a YouTube video and it doesn’t get a million likes, it sucks. If you love the process, it shouldn’t matter how long it takes. If you love what you do every day, I would want it to take longer, because then you can continue to do it every day.”

- Jeff Staple

For this fit I mash up the Puma / Staple collab with accessories by Off-White, Versace, B&O and a watch by Vostok-Europe. Taking cues from the sneaker I focus on the black, gray and yellow theme to create a summer vibe. Staying with the color theme I add in a Le Mans 100 Year Anniversary weekender bag to carry my gear.

For the unfamiliar, Staple's eponymous streetwear label was launched in 1997. The modest T-shirt brand slowly expanded and gained popularity in New York City. It stepped into the footwear world with a bang, collaborating with brands like Nike and Puma.

Jeff was the host of HYPEBEAST’s popular podcast “The Business of HYPE” and is one of the most prominent teachers on SKILLSHARE. He is also a frequent moderator, lecturer and keynote speaker at industry panels & conferences. Jeff Staple continues to expand his “Positive Social Contagion” worldwide.

Most everyone is familiar with Off-White as Virgil Abloh’s luxury streetwear brand. Virgil also went on to help reset Louis Vuitton cultural fashion cues. He will be missed.

Let me know what you think.
